May 2011 will be my fourth anniversary (w/o T.V.)

I dropped T.V. for a different reason than many of you. I hated the advertising. I've stopped going to movie theaters, I listen to commercial free radio, read books, and use advertising filters on line. If I want information/entertainment, I pay for it if I can get it advertisement free.

I'd pay a premium for magazines sans ads, but I feel there aren't enough people like me to support such an endeavor.

My life has changed a bit since going advertisement free. I don't feel a need to rush out and buy the latest (X). I do actual research before making purchases (thank you Consumerist/Consumer Reports). I actually know the platforms of candidates before I vote.

However, the biggest, most important change, has been my ability to detect a lie. I no longer have a tolerance for B.S. of any sort. I don't succumb to manipulation. I think. I talk to people. I have a cell phone, but I use it as a tool, not a way to be the center of attention.

So, for those that axed the box, how do you feel not being advertised at all the time?

It's a bit of a relief I suppose... But then again,
advertising comes through many kinds of mediums.
Personally I'm not a fan of all those pop-up
ads that keeps coming at you when surfing the Internet!
Welcome to the forum, btw. :)
